Here I am in Riyadh, settling into a month-long business assignment, the first since several life-changing events. It’s my first deep dive into an extended work trip post-COVID, with a new company, and as a ”newly” (six years and counting) married man. It’s a landscape that’s new to me, yet it holds the familiarity of family ties.

While I’m eager to return to the comfort of my home and reunite with my wife, I also recognize the value of the work still left to do here. Riyadh has shown me a different side to a culture I thought I knew, and there’s much more to learn on my subsequent visits.
